What makes a Short worth watching twice

A Short is a shape before it is a subject.

Get the shape right and repeating it is the easy part.

  1. Two seconds, then they are gone

    The opening decides almost everything.

No logo. No hello. No slow zoom in.

Start on the most interesting frame you have.

TipIf the first frame would work as a thumbnail, it works as an opening.

  2. One idea per clip

    A Short holds one thought.

If you need a second one, that is a second Short.

  3. Cut it shorter than feels right

Take three seconds off the end.

A clip that stops early gets rewatched. One that runs long gets swiped.

TipWatch it on your phone with the sound off. That is how most people will.

  4. Let the end meet the beginning

    Shorts loop, so use it.

If the last frame flows into the first, people watch twice without deciding to.

  5. Caption everything

Most of it is watched on mute.

Captions are not an accessibility extra here. They are the audio.

  6. Then make the next one the same way

    Same shape, new idea.

Mutator can hold the shape and the timing, so you only bring the idea.

Nobody rewatches a topic. They rewatch a shape that worked.

Find one, then wear it out.
