Whether you actually want a recurring face

A recurring face is the most common first idea and the most expensive one.

It is worth knowing what you are agreeing to.

  1. What it buys you

    Recognition, and only recognition.

The third time somebody sees the same face they stop deciding whether to watch.

That is genuinely valuable and it takes longer than a month.

    A recurring generated character
  2. What it costs you

Every clip now has to fit the character.

The idea that would work best is sometimes the one she cannot do.

  3. Consistency is the hard part

Keeping a face the same across many clips is the difficult bit, not making one.

Small drifts add up and people notice faces before anything else.

A second still of the same character

TipKeep your best reference image somewhere you can find it. You will need it constantly.

  4. Say that it is generated

Label it. Platforms increasingly require it and audiences increasingly spot it.

Being caught is worse than being upfront, by a lot.

  5. Try a month without one

Hands, products, screens and voiceover carry a channel perfectly well.

If the format works faceless, adding a face is an upgrade rather than a rescue.

  6. Then commit properly or not at all

A face that appears in half the clips is worse than none.

Recognition comes from repetition, and half is not repetition.

The face is not what makes it work. The repetition is.

Get that right first and the face is optional.
